European leaders converge on Paris to show solidarity with
France after the heinous murder of 17 people in two separate terrorist incidents.
Over one million people are in the streets across France for a Unity Rally demonstrating
resiliency in the face of terrorism. The impressive list of leaders visiting PM
Hollande in Paris or pledging support include German Chancellor Merkel, British
PM Cameron, Italy PM Renzi, Spain President Rajoy, Queen and King Abdullah of
Jordan, Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu, Israel PM Netanyahu and Palestinian
Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. President Obama is
absent taking a low-key approach and calls the terrorist events “violent
extremism” rather than “radical Islam." France remains on high alert as the crowds
grow larger.
France demonstrators are hoisting signs and make-shift sculptures
of pencils which signal that free speech will not be stifled after the Charlie
Hebdo terrorist attack. The country is rallying behind the mantra, “I Am
