Swift, the global interbank fund-transfer
service critical to the stability of the world’s financial systems, announces
plans to improve security for interbank transactions. Huge blocks of money are
transferred through the Swift computers that have now received cyber attacks to
the Bangladesh, Vietnam and Ecuador systems. Swift stresses that banks need to
report any and all security breaches. Banks and companies sometimes underreport
cyber attacks since they do not want customers, clients, consumers or employees
to lose confidence in their products or services.
