Today is Cinco de Meyo which celebrates the unexpected Mexican
Army’s victory over the French military at the Battle of Puebla on 5/5/1862. Mexicans
and Americans alike use the day as an excuse to drink booze, sing, dance and
party. Do not confuse today with Mexico’s Independence day on September 16.
Japan trading remains closed; today is Children’s Day.
Trading in Korea, Indonesia and Thailand is also closed for holidays. US
futures are buoyant. S&P +2.

The republican establishment is providing a cold
shoulder to Trump and it is the role of the orange-headed showman to smooth
over the problems caused by his scorched-Earth insult strategy during the
primary elections. Trump appears obstinate and may not want to be a peacemaker,
if so, the republicans will likely lose to the democrats in November. There is
lots of drama ahead for the next six months for both the republican and
democrat parties with Trump and Clinton the presumptive nominees for the next
POTUS, respectively, and Americans view both negatively.
