The empty store fronts result in less foot traffic and an increase in nefarious activities such as gang activity or flash mob events. A security guard was shot dead at a San Bernadino strip mall a couple days ago. Adding to the concern over the modern-day shopping mall in America, the al-Shabaab radical Islamist terror group calls for attacks on US, Canadian and UK malls feeding off their murderous rampage at the Kenyan mall two years ago.
