MONDAY 3/2/15; Global PMI’s; LL; MHR; ISM Mfg Index; SPX, INDU and RUT All-Time Highs; COMPQ Prints 5K First Time in 15 Years; Utilities in Correction Territory; MYL; NBR; PANW

Japan’s capital spending is +2.8% below the +5% estimate. Lack of capital expenditures will crush the hopes of Abenomics. The dollar/yen moves higher to 119.85. The NIKK begins trading up +0.5% to 18.9K on the weaker yen as traders expect more stimulus from the BOJ. Aussie dollar 0.7787. The SPASX200 is up +0.7% only 32 points from the 6000 level. Global indexes continue to set records and print new round numbers. All Hail the power of the central bankers!

KOSPI begins trading up +0.5%. North Korea fires missiles off the eastern coast flexing their muscles to gain attention. Hyundai recalls 200K cars in the US due to power steering problems. Samsung releases a new smartphone S6 to an enthusiastic reception at the Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona, Spain. The Samsung has a curved screen, actually a three-sided screen, with the two small side areas capable of displaying information; an innovative concept ideal for streaming stock ticker quotes as well as news information. Samsung also announces plans for its mobile payment system well received by retailers. The new design will cause AAPL to stand up and take notice.

China’s Huawei unveils a luxury smart watch beating Apple to the punch. AAPL’s new Apple Watch device is to be released 3/9/15 with shipments beginning in April. Smartphones, watches and other electronic gadgets become more commoditized in an increasingly-crowded market. Hong Kong takes steps to cool the housing market by increasing minimum down payments. Real estate prices are rocketing higher in Hong Kong over the last year worrying government officials.

NXPI and FSL report a merger with the combined company valued at $40 billion. The deal between NXP Semi and Freescale Semi will ignite a ‘Merger Monday’ party in the US and boost the semiconductor sector. The week ahead is
