The Pacific islands of Vanuatu are flattened by Cyclone Pam.
A state of emergency is declared for the nation of approximately 80 islands hit
by 200 MPH (320 KPH) winds and an eight-foot (2.4 m) storm surge. Eight are
dead but the death count is expected to increase since many people live in huts
that allow no protection for such force. Timber structures and metal roofs are completely
destroyed. Communication systems are dead.
10 Christians are killed and another 50 wounded in bombings
attacking Pakistan churches. Two suspects are dragged into the street and
burned to death. The new Holy War between Muslims and Christians grows each day.
In northern Iraq, Kurdish peshmerga forces are attacked with chemical weapons
by ISIS Islamist radicals. President Obama is back pedaling from removing
troops from Afghanistan to prevent the same outcome that has occurred in Iraq.
The president pulled all US forces from Iraq creating a vacuum in the troubled nation
that was filled by the ISIS Islamist extremists leading to the growing Holy War
across the Middle East and northern and western Africa.

New concepts receiving attention at SXSW include
live-streaming apps, a shoe device by start-up SolePower that charges electronic
gadgets by walking and a wrist-held personal air conditioning device but the
jury is out if any cutting-edge product will gather attention. Much of the new ideas
are improvements to existing technology rather than anything revolutionary but
the week ahead may provide surprises.
President Putin continues his ‘Where’s Waldo’ impersonation remaining
missing from the public spotlight. Putin is scheduled to appear at a public
meeting tomorrow.
