Frequent traveler miles programs have been merged. The 1939 flight number was chosen since it was the first year that US Airways was formed (76 years ago). US Air had its main hub in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for decades; the airline began as All American Aviation then Allegheny Airlines then US Air.
