Today is the 73rd anniversary of the June 6, 1944, D-Day
invasion during World War II that began the Battle of Normandy. 160,000 American,
British and Canadian soldiers hit the beaches of Normandy in the largest
amphibious military operation ever conducted in human history. 9,000 were
killed and wounded on those bloody beaches.
